1. Get a Free Pumpkin at Orangetober in Orange

When: Sunday from 10 AM; Pick of the Patch at 1 PM; Pumpkin Scramble at 1:30 PM

The 6th Annual Orangetober Festival closes out Sunday with one of the biggest giveaways of the weekend: 10,000 free pumpkins.

At 1 PM, Pick of the Patch gives every child age 8 and under a pumpkin. At 1:30 PM, the Pumpkin Scramble opens the rest of the patch and all 10,000 pumpkins are given away. You can even take home the pallets and hay.

Bring chairs, but leave dogs and coolers at home. Wagons, carts and strollers are not allowed inside the Pumpkin Village during the Scramble.

2. Spend Sunday at Beaumont Comic Con

The 8th Annual Beaumont Comic Con is one of the best indoor options if Sunday turns rainy.

Guests include Tony Oliver, Jessica Straus, Ben Dunn, Mark Nelson, Gangrel and Greg Peters, with vendors, games and cosplay throughout the day. The kids' cosplay contest starts at 3 PM.

Tickets are available through Ticketmaster, the arena box office or at the door.

3. Browse Lumberton Trade Days

Price: Free admission and parking

Lumberton Trade Days brings local craft, food and information vendors to Lumberton City Park for the Chamber's twice-a-year market.

If you are heading out, keep an eye on the weather since this is an outdoor event.

4. Visit the Art Museum of Southeast Texas for Free

The Art Museum of Southeast Texas is an easy indoor Sunday stop, and admission is always free.

Current exhibitions include Samantha Harrison: Land and Light and A Legacy of Collecting, the museum's anniversary exhibition.

5. Tour the McFaddin-Ward House Museum

The McFaddin-Ward House Museum offers two free Sunday tours: a garden tour at noon and a house tour at 1 PM.

The house tour is for ages 8 and up. Booking online ahead of time is recommended.

6. Step Into Beaumont's Oil Boom at Spindletop

Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown Museum recreates Beaumont's 1901 oil-boom era at the site of the Lucas Gusher.

It is inexpensive and especially good if you have out-of-town visitors who want something distinctly Southeast Texas.

7. Meet the Gators at Gator Country

Gator Country Adventure Park is open Sunday with animal encounters and educational shows.

The park does not currently publish admission prices online, so call (409) 794-9453 before you go if you want current pricing.

8. Visit Sabine Pass Battleground

Sabine Pass Battleground State Historic Site is a simple low-cost stop with a bronze Dick Dowling statue and a cannon exhibit.

If the weather cooperates, it pairs well with Sea Rim State Park.

9. Walk the Beach and Marsh at Sea Rim State Park

Sea Rim State Park combines nearly two miles of Gulf beach with the Gambusia Nature Trail marsh boardwalk.

Sunday's rain and wind chances make this a weather-dependent pick. East Beach also remains closed to vehicles and camping.

10. Orangetober's Saturday Festival Day

Saturday at Orangetober included the Rotary Club of Orange vendor market and a 3 PM pumpkin pie eating contest, along with music and the festival's other weekend activities.

11. Dean Granger Memorial 5K

The Dean Granger Memorial 5K, Kiddie Run and Mascot Run kicked off Saturday morning to benefit United Way of Orange County.

12. Big Pumpkin Run 5K in Port Arthur

The Big Pumpkin Run 5K and Kids K marked 3 Bros Running Company's fifth anniversary and its first race in Port Arthur.

13. Walk to End Alzheimer's in Beaumont

Beaumont's Walk to End Alzheimer's followed a three-mile downtown route after an 8:45 AM opening ceremony.

14. Shop the Beaumont Farmers Market

The Beaumont Farmers Market opened Saturday morning with local produce, meats and baked goods, rain or shine.

15. Take a Neches River Adventure

The Ivory Bill headed out Saturday morning for a two-hour narrated tour of the Neches River.

If you missed it, the boat returns for free rides during Big Thicket Day on the Neches on October 10.

The 2026 Fire Festival opened Fire Prevention Month with live fire and EMS demonstrations, bounce houses, crafts and a junior firefighter obstacle course.

17. Catch Beaumont Comic Con on Saturday

Comic Con also ran Saturday, with the adult cosplay contest taking place at 4 PM.

18. See the Final Day of the Texas Rice Festival

The 57th Texas Rice Festival wrapped up Saturday in Winnie with its Grand Parade, carnival and a full day of live music including Wayne Toups, William Beckmann and Bag of Donuts.

Winnie is about 30 miles west of Beaumont, so this one sits just outside the core Golden Triangle area.
